Welcome to the Vintage Tap and Swing website. Edinburgh-based dancer Cathy Harrison would like to invite you to join her for some fun classes and workshops. Cathy has been dancing forever, and has experience in tap, jazz and all the main swing dances. From beginner to advanced, you'll find something to suit you here. Enjoy!

Brand New Class
Easy Does It
Yes, it's the name of a Count Basie tune, but it's also the name of our brand new slower paced classes.
If you want to learn how to Lindy Hop, but feel that regular classes go at a bit of a fast pace for you and you need time to practice and work through your steps, then this is the class for you. You can be an absolute beginner, or have done some classes, but whatever your experience, we’ll be going back to basics, giving you plenty of time to hone your new moves. This will be a small group - limited to 12 spaces, so please email us if you’re interested in joining. A small group is great for learning as you get individual personalised attention and you’ll be off dancing with confidence in no time.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Every Thursday in May and June (except 2nd May), 5:30-6:30pm.
How much? £20 for four weeks in May then £20 for four weeks in June.

Lindy Hop
Workshops
27th April
Back to the Charleston
Back Charleston, Tandem Charleston, whatever you call it, it's a must have move in your Lindy Hop vocabulary. In this workshop, we'll cover the basics and as many variations as we can fit into the time (and there are a myriad!) So, if you want to learn more, join us!
Dips, Tricks and Fancy Stuff
Feeling in a rut with your swing dance moves? Spice it up with some exciting things to try when you're out social dancing or joining in a jam. Great fun! Suitable for improver dancers and above.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Saturday 27th April 2024, 10:00-11:25am (Back to the Charleston) 11:35am-1:00pm (Dips, Tricks and Fancy Stuff)
How much? £9 (£8 concessions) for one workshop. £17 (£15 concessions) for both workshops.

Lindy Hop - Beginners
Our next block of classes for Beginners will start on 18th April. The classes will be suitable for those with no or little Lindy Hop experience.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Thursdays, 7:00-8:30pm (no class on 2nd May).
How much? £26 (£22 concessions) per person for a four week block.

Lindy Hop -
Improvers/ Intermediate
We teach Lindy Hop classes on Tuesdays suitable for improver/intermediate dancers and above. You must know 8 beat footwork patterns and basic moves such as the Lindy Turn, Swingout, Lindy Circle, Texas Tommy, etc.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30pm.
How much? £26 (£22 concessions) per person for a four week block.

Tap Dance
