Welcome to the Vintage Tap and Swing website. Edinburgh-based dancer Cathy Harrison would like to invite you to join her for some fun classes and workshops in Lindy Hop, Charleston and much more. Cathy has been dancing forever, and has experience in tap, jazz and all the main swing dances. From beginner to advanced, you'll find something to suit you here. Enjoy!

Biggar Django Jazz Festival
20 & 21 June
We're teaching a swing dance workshop at the Biggar Django Jazz Festival on Saturday 20th June. It will be suitable for absolute beginners so if you fancy trying it out head on down to the Kirk-Gillespie Centre from 2pm until 4pm. The workshop is free but you do need to get a ticket as spaces are limited. Tickets are available here.
Then on Sunday 21st June, again from 2pm until 4pm at the Kirk-Gillespie Centre, there will be a social dance with live music from Chardon Bleu. An ideal opportunity to try out the moves learned at the Saturday workshop. Entry to the dance is also free with a ticket which can be booked here.

Tap Dance
Tap classes are back! We've been so busy with Lindy Hop classes that we haven't been able to offer any tap classes as well. However, for a six–week block we'll be teaching some cool routines — the Tap Shim Sham, a Soft Shoe Routine and at least some of the One Man Dance. If you've done any tap before, this is right up your street. The routines will also be suitable for Lindy Hoppers who have some solo jazz experience. No need for tap shoes if you don't have any — any hard soled shoes will do.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Thursdays, 6:45-8:00pm. 7th May to 18 June 2026 (no class on 21st May).
How much? £45 (£39 concessions) per person for the six week block.

Lindy Hop -
Improvers/ Intermediate
We teach Lindy Hop classes on Tuesdays suitable for improver/intermediate dancers and above. You must know 8 beat footwork patterns and basic moves such as the Lindy Turn, Swingout, Lindy Circle, Texas Tommy, etc.
Where? North Merchiston Club
When? Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30pm. The current five week block of classes started on 2nd June 2026.
How much? £37.50 (£32.50 concessions) per person for the five week block.

Lindy Hop - Beginners
We're having a break from Beginners' Lindy Hop classes for a while to allow the Tap Dance classes to go ahead. However Beginners' Lindy Hop will be back in September. Do get in touch if you are interested - email vtasevents@gmail.com
